Virtual Guitar Lessons for AB and Northern Canada

Soldier On will be collaborating with musictherapy42 to host virtual guitar lessons for a 10-week duration. These sessions will run weekly on April 5 to June 9. This activity will bring together both serving and retired ill/injured CAF members, allowing participants to connect through peer support and encourage a creative lifestyle.

10 ill/injured serving or retired members of the Canadian Armed Forces will receive introductory guitar lessons to assist in the continuation of a healthy lifestyle. The group of 10 will go into two groups of five in order to maximize the learning environment.  Participants will select Tuesdays or Thursdays in order to accommodate their schedules.

The aim of this activity will be to introduce a variety of cords, strum patterns and the ability to learn basic songs. Classes will all be live and interactive with no more than five participants giving the instructors and participants the ability to communicate in real time.

If you do not already have a guitar, guitars will be supplied and mailed to selected participants. The participants will keep the guitars.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn how to play guitar through instruction and hands on experience. You will do this by learning a variety of cords and strum patterns using the Zoom virtual platform. Participants will need a computer, a stable internet connection and web camera or a cellphone for the lessons.

Assistance throughout the lessons will be provided courtesy of musictherapy42.
